Curriculum Map

We plan a well sequenced meaningful curriculum and we know what we intend the children to learn, know and do. We follow children’s interests through observation and discussion. The curriculum is there to ensure sequencing, progression, to deepen their understanding and skills across all areas of learning.

Phonics – Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. It helps children hear, identify and use different sounds to build words and then sentences.
We use Bug Club for phonics. Bug club is a core reading program to help develop confident and motivated readers. It combines over 500 finely levelled books with interactive eBooks and an online reading world – your child will have access to online reading books at home any time, any where!

Literacy -  We use ‘Talk for Writing’ approach which was developed by Pie Corbett, supported by Julia Strong and the Talk for Writing team, it is powerful because it is based on the principles of how people learn. The movement from imitation to innovation to independent application can be adapted to suit the needs of learners of any stage. Find out more here - https://www.talk4writing.com/about/

Maths – We use the White Rose Maths Scheme - White Rose Maths is an organisation that provides maths resources and Schemes of Learning for pupils of all ages, from early years to secondary school. The philosophy behind White Rose Maths also focuses on making maths fun for children and helping them to find enjoyment in number problems.
